Cycling Groups & Trial Spin

You are more than welcome to join us for 1 trial spin which would be covered under our insurance, provided by Cycling Ireland as an affiliated Club. You are more than welcome to join for a trial spin, with no obligation and its a real opportunity for you to see if CCC matches your expectations & ambitions and indeed for us to evaluate your capabilities & suitability.

These spins are categorised into general speed and ability levels as follows:

  • White Group

    22 - 24kph will be typical average speed. Distance will range from 40-70KM depending on time of year. Vertical effort will typically be <500M on any spin. Group rides on Saturday and Sunday

  • Blue Group

    24-28 KPH will be typical average speed. Distance will range from 50-90KM depending on time of year. Vertical effort will typically be <750M on any spin. Group normally rides on Saturday or Sunday.

  • Yellow Group

    28-30 KPH will be typical average speed. Distance will range from 50-100KM depending on time of year. Vertical effort will typically be >1000M on any spin. Group normally rides on Saturday or Sunday.

  • Black Group

    30+ KPH will be typical average speed. Riders may be dropped. Distance will range from 50-100KM. Vertical effort will typically be >1000M on any spin. Group rides on Saturday and Sunday

  • If you would like to take a trial spin, please notify me 48 hours in advance that you will join us and provide your contact mobile number, so that we can prepare things on our end.

    To gauge what stage/ability we would also need to know the following:

    • Do you cycle/commute regularly?

    • Have you done any sportives/events?

    • Do you think you could meet the minimum requirement of 50km distance at average speed of 22kph

  • A number of key requirements are in place to participate in club spins:

    • Be over 18 years of age

    • Have done regular distance cycling of minimum of 50km @ 22 kph (that's about 5 laps of the Phoenix Park internal perimeter in around 2.5 hours)

    • Road bike in working order with drop bars only, no flat bars or tri-bars (for Group riding safety)

    • Helmet strictly required

    • Adequate food and drink for the distance

    • Observation of Rules of Road - ALWAYS

    • Follow the instruction of the Spin Leader - ALWAYS

    • Become a member of Cycling Ireland (Leisure license minimum)

    • Become a member of CCC
